TPN partnered with Luxid, a global digital innovation and design firm, and their client, Dell, to bring a new server farm in Texas to life before any ground was broken, in an interactive environment. Marvin Sanders, TPN’s Creative Technologist, recently talked about how this project came about, how TPN did it, and what the end result was for Dell.
How did TPN become involved in this project with Luxid and Dell?
Marvin: Luxid came to TPN back in February of 2022 after responding to a TPN marketing campaign offering tours of the Odyssey platform. Their client, Dell, was about to begin construction of a new server farm and wanted Luxid to create an immersive experience aimed at pre-selling the facility’s capabilities. Dell’s goal was to ensure the server farm would be fully booked by the time it became operational.
What was the scope of this project?
Marvin: TPN began working closely with the Luxid 3D design team to take their vision and prebuilt assets, converting and optimizing them for real-time pixel streaming on the Odyssey GPU servers.
Within 8 weeks of Luxid seeing Odyssey for the first time, we were walking them virtually through the Dell complex for the review process. This was months before groundbreaking on the physical construction ever began.
What set this project apart?
Marvin: Everything was different with this project. This was our largest digital twin build up to that point. It was the first build we did with the client supplying 75% of the assets and TPN converting, optimizing and doing final assembly in the platform for live pixel streaming.
The partnership between TPN, Luxid and Dell highlights how digital twin technology can fundamentally change the construction and design industry. This project demonstrates how digital twins can improve planning, logistics and decision-making. It also emphasizes the importance of working together and being innovative to succeed with complex projects.
